The parking, pedestrian enhancement, and human scale elements of this Imperative may be attempted using the Scale Jumping overlay. Project teams are encouraged to work cooperatively within the project’s communities to minimize the need for redundant, or large quantities of, parking by coordinating shared parking and transit options that could be used by multiple groups throughout the day, week, or year, or for special events. Coordination of gathering spaces and art for the public is also encouraged.

OTHER IMPERATIVES

When Scale Jumping is implemented, all new components installed for the LBC project (e.g., asphalt, lights, curbs, etc.) must meet the requirements of all Imperatives being pursued on the project.

PROJECT AREA

The area used for Scale Jumping is not typically included in, nor affects, the Project Area or FAR. However, remote parking (i.e., parking constructed off site specifically to serve the LBC project) is not considered Scale Jumping, and therefore is included within the Project Area. Parking that is shared with other projects may be included in the Project Area on a prorated basis. If a project jumps to an area within its own property that is not shared with other projects, it is not Scale Jumping, and the additional land needs to be included in the Project Area whether or not it is contiguous.
