TLC ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS
Just Organization

Pursuing a Just label for an organization can have both immediate and lasting benefits for organizational equity. In preparing for their Just label, TLC Engineering, a 370-person consulting firm, identified that they had a few employees that were being paid slightly below the Living Wage threshold, and took immediate action to raise their salaries, before even completing the rest of the Just label process.

They also found the employee engagement that is engendered through transparency generated a strong culture for continuous improvement that has rippled through the organization, moving social equity indicators, as well as important business indicators like revenue growth and profitability.

KENDEDA BUILDING FOR INNOVATIVE SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America | Pursuing Living Certification

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design at Georgia Tech utilized salvaged 2×4s from local movie sets to fulfill the requirements of the Materials Petal. General contractor Skanska teamed up with GeorgiaWorks!, which trains chronically homeless men for jobs in the construction industry, to mill this wood. One individual that worked on this project went on to be hired full time by Skanska and then recruited by a competitor, demonstrating the value of the skills learned on the project.
