Red List materials are allowed when they are left in situ in any Typology. In cases where the material is acknowledged as hazardous, such as asbestos or lead, the project team must solicit and follow the recommendations of a remediation expert regarding removal and/or encapsulation of the Red List material.

Refrigerants (CFCs and HCFCs) in mechanical equipment within the LBC project scope are not considered in situ and must be vetted for CFC’s and HCFC’s, and eliminated if found. The body of existing equipment is considered in situ and does not require vetting for Red List ingredients.
