THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BROCK ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER
Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States of America | Certified Living Building

The Chesapeake Bay Brock (CBF) Environmental Center was strategically designed to connect occupants with the surrounding natural landscape. The land for the Center was purchased in a community partnership with CBF, the City of Virginia Beach, and the Trust for Public Land, in a concerted effort to preserve a large undeveloped portion of land along the Lynn-Haven River. One hundred acres have been preserved as a park, with ten additional acres dedicated for use by the Brock Center.

The Center itself is accessible to the local community and was intentionally designed to connect occupants and visitors with the natural landscape. The building is a one-story structure, with a large circular deck to allow community gatherings and provide an outdoor space for viewing and appreciating the natural environment.

The surrounding park landscape is fully accessible and is used for a variety of recreational activities from bird watching to fishing. The eastern property line runs along 195 meters of shoreline, all of which is open and accessible to the public through existing paths.
