Students are responsible for following practicum processes and complete required paperwork, as indicated in their practicum prep meeting and/or posted to the Child Studies student learning management system. Student will provide evidence of a recent Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check, to the practicum site as required, exhibit responsible and professional behaviour in the placement and assume responsibility for their own learning. It is part of their role to attend the program and site orientation, attend consistently and promptly at the agreed-upon times.

The students will notify the Practicum Site and Faculty Supervisor of any absences, such notification is to be provided in advance whenever possible. Students will be familiar with the University’s expectations for the practicum experience and abide by the philosophy and policies of the assigned practicum site. It is important to be prepared for each weekly supervisory meeting, seek, accept and apply feedback on all aspects of their performance in the agency, and meet the standard of professional practice applicable to the agency staff.

**Practicum hour completion is mandatory to achieve credit for practicum or capstone courses and a C grade is necessary to advance to the next level of practicum. **

Time will be tracked and validated on the Student Tracking Hours form on IPT.

Students must remember to keep a record in IPT of practicum hours with verification from the Site Supervisor and accept responsibility for the required practicum tasks. Students will attend weekly seminars, contribute evidence and examples of professional competencies in the midterm and final evaluation and raise practicum related questions and concerns with the Site Supervisor and/or Faculty Supervisor in a timely manner. Students must adhere to all MRU academic conduct policies and expectations.
