Practicum III: CYCC 2242 – Winter Semester – Second year January – April
Total Hours: Students will have to complete 22 hours/week towards their practicum. Lunch breaks are included in students’ hours, but must be based on what is considered a normal lunch break for the agency. Students are allotted 22 hours per week in their course schedule for their practicum hours. However, students may flex their practicum time outside of the scheduled days if the agency requires or needed to maintain supervision (e.g., evenings and weekends).

Students continue to learn skills required to work with vulnerable children, youth, and families. They will integrate developmental theory and practice through seminars and supervised practice. Typically students will spend 22 hours/week at their practicum and students will attend a weekly practicum seminar part of the day and will transit to their placement after a 2 hour seminar. Students are allowed to miss two days due to illness without having to make up their hours. Students are encouraged to take part in training opportunities offered by their agency during their assigned practicum days, but can only miss one practicum seminar due to a training opportunity.

Prerequisite(s): CYCC 2241 with a minimum grade of C.
