Practicum I: CYCC 1142 – Winter Semester – first year January – April
Total Hours: Students will have 8 hour/week to complete required hours.

  • 3 credits
    Students are given one day a week with no classes in order to complete their practicum hours.
    Total hours to meet practicum requirements: 5 hours youth and family court (2.5 hours each) and face-to-face (students will have 1 day per week to complete their hours) (Subject to availability of court)

This is the first placement in the field for students and they are expected to seek information to understand the policies and procedures of the agency. Students will observe professionals in their specific roles, interact with clients on a casual basis (leaving counselling and interventions to hired staff), connect theory to practice, maintain a professional presentation and demeanor, and be available for supervision. Students will be expected to provide feedback on the experience and reflect on observations.

Prerequisite(s): CYCC 1132.
