Occasionally students will experience conflict or concerns during their practicum.

Areas of concern could relate to:

  • Clarity of expectations
  • Relationship concerns
  • Performance issues
  • Other learning-related situations

Conflict resolution is an important skill. There is support from the faculty available to enhance and support these skills; however, it is the student’s responsibility to contact MRU staff/faculty for support.

As a way to address concerns in a consistent manner, MRU expects students to follow the following process:

  1. Openly discuss concerns at the practicum agency level with the Site Supervisor as soon as possible. Document concerns, discussion, and related resolution
  2. Openly discuss concerns with the Faculty Supervisor during a meeting to review the situation. Be prepared for the meeting with documentation of attempted resolution with the Site Supervisor. Options and solutions will be discussed and documented
  3. If the situation remains unresolved, the Faculty Supervisor and the student will set up a meeting with the Field Director
  4. Choosing to appeal a final grade can refer to Academic Appeals and Grievances in the Academic Regulations section of the MRU Calendar
