Access and Inclusion Services

Mount Royal University is committed to providing an inclusive learning environment. Students who have a disability may choose to request services and accommodation for the practicum. If students have accommodations, they are urged to discuss accommodation needs with Field Directors in advance of the practicum term. Past experience suggests that when the practicum team is aware of the need for the accommodations that the likelihood of success in practicum increases. Student accommodations must be able to meet the required hours in the placement and all other components of the practicum course.

Disclosures of accommodation needs will be handled confidentially and sensitively. If students disclose and/or want accommodation for the practicum, efforts will be made to support them in arranging for a practicum placement setting that can make the required accommodation. Importantly, students are responsible to complete all of the steps required as outlined in this manual. This process requires the collaboration between the practicum team, students and accessibility services and therefore, anticipating any needs must be done in the fall term.
