In Linq ERP, there are two Primary codes. These are often not the same code. The Primary Pay code on the Job Detail screens is used for Time Clock purposes.
One is on the Job Screen, titled Primary Job. The order for Primary Job is as follows:
1 is for the employee’s main pensionable job, longevity and pensionable stipends;
2 is for non-pensionable stipends paid on a contracted basis (such as: 1/6 positions, Summer Contracted positions, AHS positions, Random Drug Testing Coordinator); 3 is for coaching & coaching longevity;
4 is for extra pay advisor and advisor longevity;
5 is for substitute positions, homebound & part-time custodians,
6 isn’t used yet,
7 is for reimbursements, waivers, payouts (Misc., Tuit, HBWA and POUT, etc.);
8 is for time entry positions (additional hourly, daily, workshop pay, courses of study pay, etc.).,
9 is for adjustments to pay (hardly ever used anymore – most times docks or additional days are paid by adding a page to the job/pay that is being adjusted)
The other one is located on the Pay Detail page, titled Primary Pay. The Primary Pay needs to be a 1 if this is the employee’s main job. The Primary Job code as listed above can be different than the Primary Pay code. Some examples are:
Primary Pay 1 – Use if this is the employee’s main pay (example: Teacher contract pensionable pay, Bus Driver contract pensionable pay, Consulting Teacher pay etc.
and Longevity for these pays as well).
Primary Pay 2 – Use for time and a half overtime (custodians, maintenance, bus drivers). This is added as an additional page on their main job/pay.
Primary Pay 3 – Use for double time overtime (custodians, maintenance). This is added as an additional page on their main job/pay.
Primary Pay 1 – Use if this is an out of district coach or advisor, even though their Primary Job code on the Job page is a 3 or 4, their Primary Pay code should be a 1
because this is their main job. A teacher who is coaching would have their Primary Pay code as 1 for the teacher position and 3 for a coaching
position because the coaching position is NOT their main job.
Primary Pay 1 – Use this for part-time custodians or part-time bus drivers (again, the Primary Job code on the Job page will be different)
Primary Pay 1 – When a new hire starts mid-year, or an employee goes out on a leave, quite often the main job/pay will have multiple Pays pages. Each of these Pays
pages will get a Primary Pay 1. You can have multiple Pays pages with a Primary Pay 1 code.
For any additional positions (not the main position), I usually make the Primary Pay code the same as the Primary Job code.
