Comp Days
- Our Morris Hills and Morris Knolls (not Shared Services) custodians get Comp days for teacher convention and any of the up to 5 snows days that are given back later in the school year (usually around the Memorial Day and Spring breaks).
- Our Shared Services custodians get Comp days for the up to 5 snows days that are given back later in the school year (usually around the Memorial Day and Spring breaks).
Overtime
- Our Morris Hills and Morris Knolls custodians get overtime if working any of the holidays except for teacher’s convention and non-used give back snow days, where Comp days are given (see above).
- Our Shared Services custodians get overtime if working any of the holidays of the holiday schedule for the school for which they are working..i.e, if they are working at Wharton, and Wharton gets the full winter break as a holiday, then if a custodian works during this holiday break, then he or she would get overtime. If a Wharton custodian works teacher’s convention and the Wharton holiday schedule is not closed for teacher’s convention, then they do NOT get paid overtime, even through the Morris Hills/Morris Knolls calendar shows a holiday.
As indicated in the contract, in the event the Shared Services school calendar doesn’t coincide with the MHRD holiday, the custodian will work at Wharton on a holiday that MHRD custodians have off. The Shared Services custodian will be entitled to an alternate day off (this will be one of the scheduled Shared Services holidays that MHRD custodians do not have off). This works as long as all schools have an equal amount of holidays (at this writing both MHRD and Wharton have 15 holidays each).
