The Model Alignment process makes shows with multiple objects that are randomly/roughly placed or shows with automation much easier.
Once you have aligned 1 or more projectors to a model using the steps here, Projector Alignment you can then use Model Alignment to accurately position models into the space. You could call this process ‘reverse alignment.’

To enter the alignment tool,
Right Click on a model, Alignment
Or choose Alignment in the Dropdown menu top right of the GUI.

HOW TO USE

  1. Select a Model to align.
  2. Now use the ‘From View’ property to choose an aligned projector or MR camera to align from.
  3. Use the mouse to select a vertex on the model to align with.
  4. Press Enter to enable a cross hair on the output.
  5. Use the Arrow keys to move the cross hair to exactly the same position on the real model.
  6. When you are happy with the position press Enter again to confirm that point.
  7. Notice a new correspondence appear in the correspondence panel.
  8. Repeat steps 2-7 4 times to get your first alignment
Arrow keys alone 1 pixel movement
Ctrl + Arrow Keys 20 pixels movement
Shift + Arrows Keys 100 pixels movement

After six points try using the tick boxes in the Alignment Points panel to add and subtract points from the alignment algorithm to see if some combinations are better.

Using multiple alignment samples can allow for better alignment in multiple projector environments. When having multiple alignment samples enabled, the calculated position will be averaged between all alignment samples.
