Manipulation Modes

There are 3 ways to manipulate objects in SHAPE.
To translate click,
or (E) + left mouse click and drag on an axis arrow.
To translate on 2 axis at the same time, position the mouse on the yellow area between the 2 axis you want to move your model on.

To rotate click,
or ® + left mouse click and drag around an axis.

To scale click,
or (T) and left mouse click and drag on an axis.
To scale on 2 axis at the same time, position the mouse on the yellow area between the 2 axis you want to scale your mode on. If you want to scale on all axis at the same time move the mouse to the center of the yellow area.

By holding shift during either a move, rotation, or scale, values will move in round increments. Move will adjust by .5m, Rotate will adjust by 5°

World vs. Model Space

World space allows for objects to be moved on the global world X,Y,Z axis regardless of the objects rotation

Model space allows for objects to be moved on its own X,Y,Z axis even after an object has been rotated.

TIP: To reset your position or rotation to 0. You can right click on the specific X Y Z properties panel box you want to reset or if you right click on the word position or rotation in the properties panel you can reset all 3.
TIP: If you single press a manipulation shortcut the manipulation mode will remain active. If you hold down the manipulation shortcut while you manipulate the object when the button is released SHAPE will return to the previous mode.
TIP: Using the world space shortcut can be helpful to move objects in the scene precisely on the worlds axis’ if an object has been rotated previously.
