Overview of Enhancements
1. Restriction on Parent Tasks
Purpose: To prevent parent tasks from recording transactions in Project Operations and FSCM, ensuring clarity in task management and accounting.
Project Operations Enhancements
New Parameter:
- Name: Restrict Summary Tasks
- Location: Settings > Evergreen parameters > General tab
- Enabled: If a user selects a parent task and attempts to save, an error message is displayed, preventing any further action.
- Disabled: Parent tasks can record transactions normally.
2. Time Entries
- Parent tasks will not appear in the dropdown for time entries.
- They can still be accessed via advanced lookup.
- Error Message: Triggered if a user selects a parent task and tries to save the entry.
3. Material Usage and Journals
- Parent tasks will be visible and selectable in dropdowns and advanced lookups.
- Error Message: An error will trigger upon attempting to save if a parent task is selected.
- This applies both when saving a new record and when editing an existing one.
FSCM Enhancements
New Parameter:
- Name: Restrict Summary Tasks
- Location: Project management and accounting > Setup > Project management and accounting parameters > Project Operations on Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement tab > Evergreen Operations fast tab
- Enabled:
- Parent tasks remain visible in expense reports and purchase orders.
- An error message is displayed if a user attempts to select a parent task for these records.
- Disabled: Parent tasks can record expenses and purchase orders without restrictions.
