Once you have verified the settings and adjusted the wheels if necessary, you can begin the scan. Select the Start Scan Button. If sound is enabled, the voice prompt will tell you to begin the scan. About one second later the voice prompt will state the starting level for the scan.
Place the neuroTHERMAL at the starting point for the scan. Wait a few seconds for the neuroTHERMAL to stabilize. After it has stabilized, the Stable Flag will change from red to green.
Press the trigger to take the first reading and listen for the beep and the prompt for the next level. At that point, start rolling the scanner up the spine at a slow steady pace. As the wheels turn you will hear a clicking sound indicating that the scanner is collecting data. You press the trigger to mark each spinal region. Normally, these are S1, L1, T1, C2, and then C1. When you reach C1, the system will prompt you to first take a left, then a right reading. You must lift the scanner off the patient’s back and first point the LEFT sensor at the left C1 atlas, then the RIGHT sensor at the right C1 atlas. If you are using a T1 scanner, the left and right sensors will depend upon the body type of the patient. For each of these C1 readings, wait for the Stable Indicator to turn green before pulling the trigger. When the scan is complete myINSiGHT™ will prompt you to save the scan. After saving, you will see an NCM (bars) view of the scan beside the real-time graph. You can also click the Views icon to launch your browser and see a Rolling Thermal Summary View of this scan. During the Rolling Thermal scan, the data signal line should always be visible in the Display Box. If you cannot see the signal, increase the range using the Range Setting.
myINSiGHT™ records and displays data as you roll the neuroTHERMAL up the patient’s spine.
When scanning using the T4 scanner, the LCD screen graphs the data as you roll along the spine. The graph on the LCD screen shows a smaller window of data than the one on the desktop software. The screen will also prompt you for the next spinal region to mark by pulling the trigger.
The Excessive Speed Indicator at the bottom of the page will warn if you are rolling the neuroTHERMAL too fast during a scan. If the flag turns from green to red you should cancel the scan and start over.
