BAR CROSSINGS
In all endorsed IRB Operations when crossing a Bar the following directives apply:
1. On approach of a bar the accredited Driver at the helm must advise Surfcom of their intentions. On completion of the crossing the accredited Driver shall contact Surfcom to advise of a successful crossing of the bar
2. A probationary or unaccredited Driver or crewperson cannot be in the Driver position
3. Only an accredited Crewman can accompany the Driver and must be in the Crewman position
4. This process applies for both directions of crossing a Bar
5. If a club wishes to train in the bar they must apply annually to their Lifesaving Coordinator for an exemption to train in the bar to be forwarded onto the IRB Panel for recommendations. Clubs must complete all relevant risk assessments and be wearing appropriate PPE equipment.
6. No unqualified members are able to train in the bar, without first obtaining the relevant award.
