The Surf Life Saving Queensland Bravery Medal (SLSQBM) has been introduced to members of the association and/or the community who have selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives of others. Bravery and courage differs from fortitude in a crisis situation; bravery is a deliberate choice to go from a place of safety to danger or remain in a perilous position to provide help.

A few reminders about the SLSQ Bravery Medal:

  • Anyone can make a nomination.
  • Anyone can be nominated who meets the criteria (demonstrates bravery by choice and endangers themselves to provide help).
  • The nominee must have the nomination and supporting documentation endorsed by their relevant branch prior to it be submitted to SLSQ to review.

Post Nomination Brief
Once the nomination has been submitted, it will be presented to the LSC for endorsement & at the end of the year compiled to be presented at the State Awards of Excellence Night.
