Each year we ‘Raise the Flags’ on our first volunteer patrol of the season; placing the red and yellow in the sand as an iconic symbol of safety, vigilance and service. The significance of this varies between clubs and members. It involves raising the iconic red and yellow flags, symbolizing supervised swimming areas, alongside the Australian, Aboriginal, and Torres Strait Islander flags.
