The official patrol season for 2025/2026 shall commence on Saturday 20th of September 2025 and concludes on Monday 4th of May 2026.

North Queensland Branch season shall commence Saturday 29th March 2024Saturday 5th April 2025 and concludes on Sunday 8th December 2024 30th November 2025 (subject to individual Patrol Service Agreements).

All clubs are required to provide patrols to the standard outlined within their individual patrol service contracts as confirmed by the club, branch and SLSQ in conjunction with this Patrol Operations Manual. Clubs are required to patrol on mid-week public holidays as well as those public holidays attached to a weekend. Where a public holiday falls on a Friday or Monday, all clubs shall provide patrols on each day of that long weekend.

ANY ALTERATIONS TO THESE DATES MUST FORM PART OF THE PATROL SERVICE CONTRACT, WHICH IS REQUIRED TO BE ENDORSED BY THE RELEVANT BRANCH AND STATE LIFESAVING COMMITTEE. CLUBS WHICH HAVE DIFFICULTY IN PROVIDING PATROLS ON MID WEEK PUBLIC HOLIDAYS SHALL SEEK ASSISTANCE FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE BRANCH DIRECTOR OF LIFESAVING.

All patrol captains and patrolling members should refer to the Club Patrol Service Contracts (as displayed by their club) for specific details of patrol times within their area of operations.

  • All club patrols shall be fully operational at the commencement time specified and are not to be concluded prior to the finishing time.*
  • Patrol Members may claim up to a maximum of 30 minutes prior to and after the Patrol Hours, as stated in their clubs Patrol Service Agreement. This is ONLY for set-up and pack down of patrol. Members should sign on to patrol as soon as practicable to ensure the Surfcom is aware of patrolling capabilities.*
  • Operations support shall be fully operational at the commencement time specified, and not to be concluded prior to the finishing time, unless advised otherwise by the duty officer.**

The recommended minimum patrol times that are required for each region are as follows:

North Queensland Branch: 5th April 2025 – 7th of November 2025
Saturday/Sunday and public holidays – times as per individual Club Patrol Service Contracts.

  • Sunday and public holidays 9.00am – 5.00pm
North Barrier Branch: September 20th, 2025 – May 4th, 2026

Wide Bay Capricorn Branch: September 20th, 2025 – May 4th, 2026

  • Sunday and Public Holidays 9.00am – 5.00pm
    NOTE: From 14th December 2024 – 27th January 2025, as per all other years, times will be Saturday 1.00pm to 6.00 pm, Sundays and public holidays 8.00am to 6.00pm
Sunshine Coast Branch: September 20th, 2025 – May 4th, 2026
  • Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 7.00am – 5.00pm
    NOTE: From 14th December 2024 – 27th January 2025, as per all other years, Saturdays, Sundays and public holiday times will be 7.00am to 6.00pm
South Coast Branch: September 20th, 2025 – May 4th, 2026

The times and dates stated above are the minimum patrol requirements and are subject to specific Club Patrol Service Contracts as agreed too between Clubs and Branch Directors of Lifesaving.
