LIMSOC STATISTICS AND INCIDENTS
Patrol statistics must be recorded in LIMSOC before, during and after patrol. LIMSOC is SLSQ’s central data base for all patrol statistics and incident reporting.

Where a club may not have internet access during patrol or the system is unavailable statistics are to be reported to Surfcom, who can enter them manually. Patrol statistics cannot be completed once the patrol has signed off.

Statistics are required to sign on at 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700 and sign off.

If a mistake is made, a member can phone SurfCom where they will be able to adjust any errors. Additionally, if statistics are missed Surfcom can assist to enter these. Clubs interested in statistics relevant to themselves (such as an annual report) may contact their branch.

Any paper logs submitted outside of LIMSOC system must be submitted by the club administrator no later than five (5) business days after the patrol.

LIMSOC has replaced the Daily Report Log. However, in the event of a LIMSOC failure, statistics will be recorded on paper before being sent to Surfcom. Due to this, Clubs should keep a daily report log at the patrol as a back-up.

LIMSOC requires users to enter statistics every other hour, in addition to sign on and sign off.

- At sign on, users are to enter the beach populations as they are currently. This is the only time this style of counting occurs.

- At each interval point, the user is to estimate the amount of unique people that have passed through the area since the last point.

- At sign off the user will estimate the amount of people unique people that have passed through the area since the last point. The user will also be given an opportunity to enter local government actions (e.g. advice given to dog owners, smokers etc) this is the total for the day.

Examples:
At 9am the member estimates there have been 30 different people between the flags since signing on at 8am. Between the flags: 30.
At 11 the sun had come out, the member estimated that 90 people unique people had been between the flags since the 9am interval. Between the flags: 90
At 5:30pm it was time to sign off, the member estimated only 3 people had been between the flags since the last interval which was only 30 minutes ago at 5pm. Between the flags: 3

The above also applies for preventative actions, which are recorded at each interval. Noting that this is only the number of actions taken, not the total people warned. E.g. Using the public announcement system to warn of a rip where you approximate 50 people heard the warning: Preventative action: 1 – People warned 50.

These statistics assist SLSQ in generating reports and trends both assisting in planning and asset allocation as well as contributing directly to funding. Every effort must be made by members to ensure data is accurate and timely. Each statistic is individual and any deceitful or exaggerated statistics will be deleted and the branch notified.
