Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is constantly looking at ways to improve member safety throughout the organisation. Unfortunately, as a number of serious IRB injuries have occurred, SLSQ has now reviewed its systems.
One of the findings to come from the review was that many of our IRB Drivers were unaware of the SLSQ Powercraft Safety Management System.
SLSQ’s Powercraft Safety Management System
As part of our organisations operating procedures and exemptions, Surf Life Saving Queensland’s safety management system is made up of the following:
- SLSA Powercraft Training Manual
- Patrol Operations Manual, section 14
- Powercraft Code of Conduct
- Training resources
- “SLSQ policies and procedures”:“https://lifesaving.com.au/member-info”:https://lifesaving.com.au/member-info
- Powercraft Risk Register
It is the responsibility of all IRB Drivers, Trainers, Assessors and clubs that they are aware of the system and all documentation within it.
On the IRB Proficiency sign on sheet, there is a column that IRB Drivers must sign to say that they have read the SLSQ Powercraft Safety Management System.
