When a patrol member is handed or finds property that they believe to be lost, the following procedure is to take place:
- Confirm the owner of the property is not in the immediate vicinity;
- If handed the item, take details of the person handing in the lost/found property;
- Secure the items and record details;
- At the earliest possible opportunity lodge the items with an appropriate authority – local authority, security, police, etc.
- When returning the property to the suspected person, confirm owners’ details where relevant and keep a record of who took the item.
