MARINE STINGER PROCEDURE
Lifesaving/Surf Sport/Junior Activity Training within Stinger Swimming Enclosures
If a club/team wishes to engage in training in a patrolled stinger enclosure, they must adhere to the above procedure as well as:
- Notifying the Lifeguard/Lifesaving Supervisor prior to training in the nets. Noting the training plan of the session.
- Set up the beach correctly, in accordance with the Stinger Enclosure Training Diagram (below) – this includes adding the ‘No Swimming’ sign outside of the stinger enclosure.
It is important not to hinder the public’s right to swim in the safety of a stinger enclosure. Under no circumstances can training be conducted on a Closed Beach. Lifeguards/Patrols reserve the right to exclude lifesaving training from the stinger enclosure based off beach
attendance, even if the team has prior approval. The below diagram depicts how a beach may be set up when conducting lifesaving training in the stinger enclosure.
