Introduction
Faculty-led study-travel courses enrich students’ learning experiences by taking participants outside the classroom and encouraging them to become global citizens through immersion in other languages and cultures. These study-travel courses also provide an important alternative for students who cannot participate in year-long or semester study abroad programs. Members of the RMC faculty are invited to plan and propose short-term courses using the guidelines in this handbook. These study-travel courses may also take place internationally or domestically and in J-term or Summer Terms.
Overview of the Handbook
The Office of International Education (OIE) has worked with the study-travel Course Committee (STCC), the Provost’s Office, Business Office, College attorney, and College insurer to develop and revise this study-travel handbook. This handbook seeks to clarify financial, safety, and liability issues involved with travel; to ensure administrative support for faculty and students studying abroad; and to uphold the College’s high academic standards.
