We participate in iNext Comprehensive Ultimate Plan, which provides the insured with critical benefits such as protection against sickness (including mental health concerns), trip delays, and baggage delays. In addition, participants are provided with political/natural disaster evacuation coverage, and travel assistance, through which arrangements can be made in case of an emergency.
FAQs and more details of the plan can be reviewed on the OIE website
- Generali Global Assistance is our 24/7 Emergency Provider. They handle all emergency situations and are the number to call in the event of an Emergency/Inpatient care. The participant or someone on their behalf would contact Generali to open a Medical Case. Generali will gather information on the participant, what hospital they are at, information as to the nature of the situation and will collect contact information. They will then work with the hospital to be sure that the participant is receiving the optimal care and will set up a Guarantee of Payment if needed. They will also work to set up a direct pay relationship if available.
- Generali does not cover non-emergency care or services that are under $500 USD. These are handled as reimbursement based claims and a reimbursement claim needs to be filed with Co-Ordinated Benefit plans.
- Generali will also coordinate a person of choice to come to the bedside if the participant is in the hospital, or expected to be in the hospital for three or more days. Currently the Bedside Visit provides coverage for airfare for a single visit to the hospitalized patient. Generali does not cover food or accommodations. Under iNext’s current underwriting, there is a $300 per day, ten day max ($3,000) benefit. Generali handles the travel arrangements for the person of choice.
- Generali also handles any Emergency Medical Evacuations. They will work with the hospital and obtain medical records and perform an evaluation to ensure that it is safe for the participant to travel. They are able to provide a nurse escort if needed. Emergency Medical Evacuations must be arranged by Generali, as they do not work on a reimbursement basis. If arrangements are made outside of Generali, no coverage is available.
- One of the benefits of having iNext is having access to the Travel Risk Intelligence Portal offered through our emergency services providers General Global Assistance and Garda. Once registered, you can use this resource to receive alerts and view a wide variety of helpful information about your destination(s), including a medical search feature.
Please note that the policy does have limitations, and not every possible impact on your travel is covered. Participants cannot cancel their participation in the study/travel course for any reason and expect to receive their money back. However, for specific circumstances (usually medical in nature but with the exclusion of pre-existing conditions), there is a cancellation provision that allows up to $3,000 to be refunded.
COVID-19 related coverage: Participants who are enrolled in iNext Insurance through RMC may be eligible for the Trip Delay due to Quarantine benefit under the Comprehensive Ultimate policy that provides quarantine coverage. Please note that the iNext coverage does not always start at the time of the required quarantine and participants will be responsible for any costs incurred for the interim period.
