During the Final Proposal Phase:

  • Study-travel courses no longer automatically receive CAR-Experiential credit. Whether the proposed course already exists or it is new, if it has not been designated as fulfilling the CAR-Experiential/travel and/or the AOK requirement, the instructor must request, and receive approval from the Curriculum Committee before the Final Proposal materials can be submitted to the STCC. Only upon approval by Curriculum Committee will the course be included on the schedule on MyMaconWeb. This also holds true for special topics courses.
  • Use the OIE’s Budget Worksheet properly and make every effort to include in the published course registration fee all required expenses (transportation, meals, lodging, activities, admissions fees, gratuities, etc.) so that students know at the time of registration what the full costs of the program are. Instructors are reminded to be sure that they build sufficient cushion so that any unforeseen expenses can be absorbed by the funds collected. Also refer to Budgeting in this handbook.
  • While faculty members may work with any licensed and insured travel provider they wish, because no funds are available prior to September 15 for J-term, faculty members must work with a provider that will conform to this time frame. For example, Fellowship Travel International will hold seats up to 11 months in advance without requiring payment at the time of booking. To get a group airfare price quote from FTI, please contact Ms. Keri Maxwell at kmaxwell@fellowship.com.
  • Inform the STCC of ANY changes made to your course(s) after your final proposal was submitted and approved. All changes must be discussed and approved by the STCC before the course can move further in the planning process.

Please refer to the Final Proposal Criteria & Guidelines form for more details (available on our BuzzNet site).
