Using the Rich Text Toolbar

When you create a topic, reply, or reply to a reply, then a number of input controls allow you to type content, such as the Subject, Message, Tags, Attach Files, and list items. The Message input control allows you to add and format text, as well as adding images, emotions and embedded media, using a Rich Text toolbar.

The toolbar contains two rows of controls that allow you to customise your content.

	Strikethrough	–	e.g. Strikethrough
	Align Left	–	Aligns the beginning of lines with the left hand side of the text field.
	Align Center	–	Aligns the middle of lines with the centre of the text field.
	Align Right	–	Aligns the end of lines with the right hand side of the text field.
	Align Full	–	Increases spacing between words so that lines of sufficient length touch both sides of the text field.
	Format	–	Choose from various format types such as Heading and Address to apply formatting options that are typical of those text types.
	Font Family	–	Choose the style of the text for the selected section.
	Font Size	–	Choose the size of the text for the selected section.
	Insert Code using Syntaxhighlighter	–	Allows formatting code to be displayed in a box within the text post without it affecting the layout of the page.
	Cut	Ctrl+X	Removes the selected section of text from the field while keeping a copy of it in the computer’s clipboard.
	Copy	Ctrl+C	Adds a copy of the selected section of text to the computer’s clipboard.
	Paste	Ctrl+V	Places in the field what is currently held in the computer’s clipboard.
	Paste as Plain Text	–	Places in the field what is currently held in the computer’s clipboard, while removing formatting.
	Paste from Word	–	Places in the field what is currently held in the computer’s clipboard, while removing any formatting that could interfere with the page layout.
	Insert/Remove Bullet List	–	Adds or removes bullet point formatting for the selected section of text.
	Insert/Remove Numbered List	–	Adds or removes numbered list formatting for the selected section of text.
	Decrease Indent	–	Decreases the space between the left hand side of the text field and the start of the line.
	Increase Indent	–	Increases the space between the left hand side of the text field and the start of the line.
	Undo	Ctrl+Z	Undoes the most recently made change(s).
	Redo	Ctrl+Y	Redoes the most recently undone change(s).
	Insert/Edit Link	–	Allows the adding and editing of a hyperlink to a section of text in the field.
	Unlink	–	Removes an embedded hyperlink from the text.
	Insert/Edit Anchor	–	Inserts an anchor into the text on a specified word. This allows the anchor to be jumped to in the page by appending #[anchor name] to the end of the page URL. An example of usage for this is to link people to a certain section/paragraph of a long post.
	Insert/Edit Image	–	Allows the embedding of an image, as well as providing various formatting options, such as dimensions and alternative images for when interacted with.
	Preview	–	Displays what the post will look like when posted based upon what is currently in the text field without actually posting it toe the Topic.
	Select Text Colour	–	Changes the colour of the text.
	Select Background Colour	–	Changes the colour of the area behind the text.
	Insert Horizontal Line	–	Adds a horizontal line at the chosen point that stretches to both sides of the text box regardless of size.
	Subscript	–	Displays selected text below other text on the same line.
	Superscript	–	Displays selected text above other text on the same line.
	Emotions	–	Gives a range of small images that can be added to represent feelings or emotions.
	Insert/Edit Embedded Media	–	Allows the embedding of externally hosted video/audio files and provides formatting options for how they are displayed.
	Toggle Full Screen Mode	–	Expands the Rich Text Editor to fill the browser, or contracts it to the default size.
