Purpose: To provide guidance to operators on how to ensure the safety of members on the ground during severe weather.
Scope: This procedure applies to all members in the State Operations Communications Centre (SurfCom).
Procedure:
- Weather Monitoring
1.1 Operators must monitor local weather conditions, including temperature, wind speed, precipitation, and other relevant factors.
1.2 Operators must regularly check weather reports, such as those from the Bureau of Meteorology, and monitor weather updates throughout the day.
- Member Communication
2.1 Operators must inform members on the ground about any weather warnings and advise them to take appropriate actions to protect themselves.
2.2 Operators must also inform members on the ground about any changes to planned activities or services due to severe weather.
2.3 Operators must broadcast storm warnings to members on the ground using multiple mediums as required.
- Responsibilities
3.1 All members are responsible for following the procedures outlined in this procedure.
3.2 Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that their operators are aware of and following the procedures outlined in this procedure.
