  1. Inductee
    1.1. This refers to a new employee who is undergoing the initial training and orientation process.
    1.2. Inductees are expected to learn the policies and procedures of SurfCom, and to be receptive to feedback and coaching from supervisors and colleagues.
  1. Operator
    2.1. An Operator is responsible for handling emergency communications and dispatching the appropriate response teams in a timely and accurate manner.
    2.2. They must be able to work under pressure and use critical thinking skills to make quick decisions.
  1. Senior Operator
    3.1. A Senior Operator is a highly experienced Operator whose role may include training and mentoring of new Operators.
    3.2. A Senior Operator, when the OCS is not on shift is responsible for overseeing the Operators on shift and ensuring that emergency communication operations are carried out efficiently and effectively and report back to the OCS.
    3.3. They may also assist with more complex or high-level emergency incidents.
  1. State Operations Centre Supervisor (OCS)
    4.1. The OCS is responsible for managing and overseeing the team of SurfCom Operators.
    4.2. They are responsible for ensuring that communication operations are carried out in compliance with established policies and procedures, and for providing coaching and feedback to operators.
    4.3. The OCS is responsible for day to day running of SurfCom and reports to the Operation Support Supervisor.
  1. Operation Support Supervisor (OSS)
    5.1. The Operation Support Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of SurfCom.
    5.2. They are responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, and ensuring that the centre operates efficiently and effectively.
    5.3. They may also be involved in liaising with external stakeholders and representing the centre at public events.
  1. State Communications Advisor (SCA)
    6.1. The State Communications Advisor is a board appointed volunteer who is responsible for providing strategic advice and support to the centre.
