VERSION 1.0 – DECEMBER 2023

Purpose: To ensure that staff working by themselves and during late shifts have a safe and secure entry and egress to the State Operations Communications Centre (SurfCom).

Scope: This procedure applies to all staff working by themselves and during late shifts at the State Operations Communications Centre (SurfCom).

  1. Entry Procedures
    1.1 Operators must not allow anyone to enter SurfCom building without approval from the OCS or Senior Operator.
    1.2 The main entrance to the SurfCom must be kept locked at all times.
  1. Egress Procedures
    2.1 Operators must use the designated exit points when leaving the building.
    2.2 The designated exit points must be always kept clear and unobstructed.
  1. Late Shift Procedures
    3.1 Operators working during late shifts must inform the OCS or Senior Operator when they are leaving SurfCom.
    3.2 Operators working during late shifts must have a means of transportation that is safe and reliable.
    3.3 Operators working during late shifts must inform the OCS if they encounter any safety concerns during their commute to or from SurfCom.
  1. Responsibilities
    4.1 All operators are responsible for following the procedures outlined in this procedure.
    4.2 The OCS is responsible for ensuring that their operators are aware of and following the procedures outlined in this procedure.
    4.3 The OCS and Operation Support Supervisor are responsible for ensuring that the necessary resources and equipment are provided to ensure the safe and secure entry and egress of operators working by themselves and during late shifts.
