VERSION 1.0 – DECEMBER 2023

Purpose: This procedure is to guide operators on how to sign on and manage mobile unit’s via LIMSOC

Scope: This procedure applies to all operators at the State Operations Communications Centre (SurfCom).

  1. Signing on Units
    1.1 Open the Resource Manager window in LIMSOC and search for the name or code of the unit (e.g. WR01).
    1.2 Once the unit is displayed, select the ‘Sign on’ button.
    1.3 Fill in all mandatory fields in the sign-on form, including
    a) The current location,
    b) Number of people on board (usually 1),
    c) Projected standby time before commencing patrol,
    d) The users Terminal ID (Radio)
    e) Primary and secondary contact details (if applicable).
  1. Updating a Service
    2.1 Select the ‘Update Service’ button to enter the details into LIMSOC.
    2.2 If the unit is travelling, it must be set to “Patrolling” and an estimated time of next contact entered.
    2.3 The time until next contact is considered the units “SarTime” and must be as accurate as possible for the safety of the members.
    2.4 If units do not update within the designated time frame this will prompt a signal in LIMSOC to notify to operator to conduct a welfare check on the unit.
    The longer the effective “SarTime” entered, the larger the search area will need to be established if the unit does not check in.
    2.5 Throughout the routine patrol, the unit must maintain radio contact with SurfCom, and SurfCom will track and record the craft or unit status.
    Standard bar crossings are set to 3 minutes regardless of the conditions.
  1. Signing a unit off
    3.1 At the end of the shift/day, the unit must radio SurfCom to advise they are signing off.
    3.2 The sign off process prompts the Operator to enter preventative actions performed.

    4.1 Refer to SOP 4.6
  1. Notes:
    5.1 The GIS allows geofencing, status messages, and duress alarms to flow between the SLSQ radio network and LIMSOC.
    5.2 The correct radio must be assigned on sign-on
