VERSION 1.0 – DECEMBER 2023

Purpose: To familiarise operators with the incident management system.

Scope: This procedure applies to all operators at the State Operations Communications Centre (SurfCom).

  1. Incident Management System Overview
1.1 Personnel must be familiar with the organisation’s incident management system, including its structure, processes, and documentation requirements.
1.2 Training on the resource management system, including its principles, procedures, and software tools, must be provided to all personnel involved in resource allocation.
1.3 Personnel responsible for resource management access must follow the process for requesting and authorising system access based on identified needs.
  1. LIMSOC (Lifesaving Incident Management System Operation Console)
LIMSOC (Lifesaving Incident Management System Operation Console), is a web-based system designed to enable multiple functions within the organisation. It serves as a centralised platform for coordinating incidents, rescues, tracking assets and other critical information from beaches across SLSQ’s operational areas. LIMSOC enables seamless integration between lifesavers stationed on the beach and the SOCC enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the services and support delivered.
  1. Key Elements of LIMSOC
3.1 Incident Management: LIMSOC allows Operators to effectively manage incidents, task units and document all crucial information in one central location.
3.2 Real-time Information Sharing: Allows allocated users to view real-time information as its being entered into the system. This improves situational awareness and helps keep radio and phone traffic available for the units on scene.
3.3 Resource Management: LIMSOC provides an overview of available assets such as lifeguards, supervisors, operational support, community awareness, lifesaving helicopters and drones.
3.4 Reporting and Statistics: LIMSOC enables in depth reporting and statistics allowing insight into incident types, locations, beach attendance numbers, rescue numbers and circumstances surrounding the rescue and response times.
