Vehicle Position Service (VPS) is a unique service that identifies a vehicle’s position using license plate recognition (LPR) and GPS identification. By combining various sources, a vehicle’s position can be determined even if it is in radio shadow or if they are parked in a column.
VPS works in all types of depots and other positions of interest, parked on a ramp or complex parking areas having a column layout.

The solution provide a surface / zone positioning that says which zone the bus is in (e.g, the basement or service hall space no. 2 etc.)
- Provide an exact parking space when the bus is connected
- Able to find buses and analyze data regarding when and time spent on various positions. The positions could be parking, maintenance, cleaning, repair etc.
- A website with a position map and a search function
- The information is available both in real time and as historical positions
GPS constantly provides the vehicles position if a reliable signal is available. GPS may also activate the camera sensor to start or stop, depending of the position. Typically, when the bus arrives at the depot or similar.
The front camera / sensor detects and reports identified, defined and known license plates / signs. The license plate may be on a vehicle or at a fixed location.
Status and information of actual position is transferred to the cloud service.
The positioning system combines both GPS-signals and signs to make an optimal, efficient, and redundant way to define the exact position of a bus, even if the bus is not connected to services such as electric charge, fuel services in the depot. A column parking area has both a start and an end sign to verify arrival and departure, combined with GPS if available. The front camera will identify the bus in front of it to calculate in what order the buses are positioned.
