Using the Lightning Conductor Web Part

The Lightning Conductor Web Part (LCWP) for Microsoft® SharePoint®, allows you to easily build a cross site collection or cross web application rollup of list items or files, build a view, apply formatting and conditional formatting to your aggregated content without the need to build complicated view templates or create XSLT. The Lightning Conductor farm solution (WSP) provides a number of preconfigured Web Parts to rollup Announcements, Documents, Events and Tasks, in addition to the Lightning Conductor Web Part (LCWP).

The Lightning Conductor Web Part provides you with an alternative to the Content Search Web Part (CSWP) and Content Query Web Part (CQWP), which both require the use of SharePoint Server Enterprise licences.

The Lightning Conductor WSP can be used on any version of a SharePoint on-premises installation, that is, the Web Parts can be used on pages in a SharePoint Foundation 2013 or SharePoint Server 2016 on-premises installation, and can be used and seen on pages where users are assigned either the standard or enterprise SharePoint Server 2013 or 2016 licenses.

Complete the following tasks to configure the Lightning Conductor Web Part:

1. Add a Web Part to the page.
   
   
2. If you wish to use multiple views within your Web Part, enable multiple views and then Create Views as required.
   
   
3. Configure the Lightning Conductor Web Part.

!The Lightning Conductor WSP must be installed, and the Lightning Conductor Web Part site collection feature must be activated before you can use the Lightning Conductor Web Parts on a SharePoint page.
