Laminate all exterior surfaces with min 16oz of glass

The entire outside of the boat needs a 16oz minimum of glass laminated on it. Where the laminate ties to a previous laminated panel you need 2” overlap and make sure the old laminate is sanded well with 80 grit. It is best to stager those overlaps so the first laminate overlaps 1” and the next laminate overlaps a total of 2”. With foam that has been prefilled with thickened epoxy, it is important that all the epoxy has been sanded and vacuumed clean. You can then lay the first layer of fiberglass cloth over the surface dry, taking care to smooth out the cloth and tailor it as you go. Once the surfaces are draped with dry fabric, you can then start wetting it out starting at the highest surface and working your way down. Take care to finish each area fully before moving to the next as you do not want the epoxy to kick off before you have had a chance to smooth the fabric out nicely. Once the first layer is saturated you can move on to the second layer of glass. Once all surfaces have 16oz of cloth on them wait for the epoxy to go to a green stage and then roll on two nice layers of unthickened epoxy as fill coats. These coats help smooth out the surface and gives you something to sand into in subsequent stages.
