License

This kit licenses the buyer to build one boat only.

Safety

The user takes full responsibility to use the boat in a safe and appropriate manner. The user also takes full responsibility to build the kit safely and soundly. We highly encourage the enrollment in a boating safety and skills course before use. Conditions change quickly on the water and it is up to the user to know your limits and keep yourself safe. Your first line of defense is between your ears. Dress appropriately for long term immersion in your waters, wear a pfd, and most importantly know your limits.

Additional Resources

Duck Works Boat Builder’s Supply www.duckworksbbs.com All kinds of supllies, plans, and neat gear for small boats.
PT Water Craft www.ptwatercraft.com Great nesting dinghy, skiff kits and Instructional Books written by Russell Brown.
Small Craft Advisor Magazine www.smallcraftadvisor.com A great Magazine for small boat enthusiasts and a good message board online for builders.

Epoxy Basics

Included with this manual are excerpts from Russell Brown’s excellent book “Epoxy Basics ~ Working with Epoxy Cleanly & Efficiently”. I highly recommend purchasing the full book on Amazon or directly from PT Watercraft’s website www.ptwatercraft.com It has lots of useful tips and tricks that will save you lots of time and help you put together a skookum board. It is a must read for epoxy beginners, but will also teach the advanced epoxy user some new tricks.

I second the recommendation of Russell Brown's "Epoxy Basics". It's a master class from a craftsman, and the detailed techniques in that book will save hours and hours of time.

Another resource I find helpful is the "Moldless Composite Sandwich Homebuilt Aircraft Instruction" book published in the 80s by the Rutan Aircraft Factory. You can find it at http://www.captoscana.com/captoscana/Documenti_Materiali_Compositi_files/MCHSAC-1%20composite%20construction.pdf . Burt Rutan, a master of aeronautical design as well as composite design and fabrication, walks through detailed techniques for foam-cored fabrication. Most of the information is still perfectly relevant. There are excerpts of a video accompanying this manual on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9GTYsNBiaE&t=1436s).
