Types

Asset types are specific categories of assets that can be grouped together. Some examples are laptops, printers, contracts.

To add a new asset type, click Add in the top right corner.

General settings

This is where you give the asset type a name and icon. You also set what zones will have access to the Asset type. Only the specified zones will be able to see the Assets of this type, as well as create new ones.

Configuration

Each asset type have a specific set of fields that define what type of data you wish to store in each asset of this type. There are two mandatory fields, but you can choose what data you wish to store in them. To add more fields to an asset type you can open the field designer by clicking Change the asset type fields after the initial settings have been saved.

In the field designer you can add or remove fields to the asset type, with the exception of the mandatory fields Name and Unique Value.

Statuses

Assets of a particular asset type can have statuses applied to them. You can chose to just use the built in status active, or you can add more statuses. For example, statuses can be active, disposed, missing, stolen, in stock, etc.

Relationship types

Assets can be related to other objects in Pureservice. For example, a laptop can be “owned by” a company, “used by” a user, “related to” a ticket. You can define the standard relationships an asset type can have in this section.
