Systems and Processes
Exceptions Panel
The Exceptions Panel provides an opportunity for TAFs who have suffered injury or other life experiences that preclude them from the ability to undertake annual skills maintenance activities, which in turn expires their TAF endorsements, to seek a short-term exception to the rule regarding proficiency of physical skills and continue to deliver parts of courses where they are physically able. For example, delivering the classroom activities on a bronze course and having another TAF look after the wet components.
Skills Maintenance App
The Skills Maintenance App will reduce the administrative time Members require to ensure that our lifesavers are appropriately qualified and make the skills maintenance process more efficient. Skills maintenance activities will be automatically processed after a Member has completed both eLearning and practical activities, ensuring compliance and up-to-date knowledge and techniques for low-frequency skills.
Compliance
D9 Matrix
The D9 Trainer Matrix process has been adjusted to consider a more robust approach to ‘training under supervision’.
Teachers allowed to Train
Changes to allow Registered Secondary School Teachers to deliver courses. This acknowledges the ability of teachers to deliver planned training to a range of students.
Changes to the Standards
The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) have undergone a rigorous review, and updated standards are scheduled to come into force in 2025. These changes will have some effect on training behind the scenes.
