More broadly, training is fundamental to achieving Life Saving Victoria’s purpose. A strong volunteer training area means quality training and quality lifesavers.

High-quality training requires a sound quality management framework, transparent policies and procedures, easy-to-use IT systems, sound communication platforms, and appropriate support. This enables our dedicated Trainers, Assessors and Facilitators to be confident and capable of delivering lifesaving training activities.

This handbook has been developed as a single source of truth to support the abovementioned requirements. Hopefully, it will increase understanding, drive standards, and promote consistency in lifesaving training and assessment activities.

Please provide feedback or suggestions on how this handbook or any aspect of volunteer training can be improved to better support our vital work.

I want to acknowledge the State Officers and LSOC representatives, but most importantly, I would like to recognise our fantastic Trainers, Assessors, and Facilitators. Your commitment and contribution are invaluable.

Yours in lifesaving,

Katrina Antony Director: Training and Assessment
