Examples of situations that have not met RTO standards, which have resulted in awards being delayed or withheld, include:

  • Minimum course duration not met.
  • Trainer/Assessor/Facilitator not appropriately qualified.
  • Trainer/Assessor/Facilitator not endorsed to deliver.
  • Candidates not holding the necessary prerequisites (awards, minimum age, or license).
  • Course evidence not completed in full (e.g., incomplete eLearning/enrolment documents/missing assessment evidence).
  • Outdated training and assessment resources used.
  • Candidates signing attendance using something other than their name or initials.

It is important to acknowledge that delaying or withholding awards/qualifications from candidates can cause significant inconvenience.

Award Issuance

When assessment evidence requirements have been met, and candidates are deemed ‘competent’, awards/qualifications will be emailed directly to the candidate and processed into Surfguard.
It is important to note that candidates are qualified once they receive the award from LSV rather than when they are signed off during a course assessment.

  • An administration fee will apply if a school or club wishes to receive duplicate hard-copy certificates.
  • Where a course includes bronze, silver, or gold medallions, these will be mailed to the club.
  • Where an LSV department organises a course, the medallions will be provided to the department responsible for the course.

Clubs pay a small fee for each new award. Invoices are issued and sent monthly. They include the amount payable and a breakdown of the training delivered during the period. Each member can only be allocated to a single club for training and assessment purposes.
