This feature enables organizations to customize the prefixes for system serial numbers (SSN) of newly created objects based on their assigned subtypes. System Admins can configure prefixes for both user-defined and default object subtypes, allowing for a tailored approach to object identification and categorization.

How It Works

This feature works just like the SSN system but uses custom subtype prefixes provided by system admins instead of the default object type prefixes (e.g., PROC, DOC, RISK).

For example, if you have a subtype called ‘Record’ with the prefix ‘REC,’ a new document assigned this subtype would be numbered as REC-309287. If the document is not assigned a subtype or is assigned a subtype without a custom prefix, it will be numbered with the default prefix, such as DOC-309287.

Getting Started

System Administrators can add SSN prefixes when editing or creating subtypes in the System Admin section under the Attributes tab. Enter the desired prefix in the ‘Prefix SSN’ field.

From now on, new objects assigned these subtypes will display the custom prefix in their SSN.
