For the SmartMonitor family as well as for the set up of event profiles configuration policies can be created that will contain the settings relevant for the device. To create a new configuration policy you can access the respective menu point under the configuration menu.

Where you can create the new policy by pressing on the top right. By pressing to create a new policy a new view will open that allows the set up of a policy. There are the following three screens: The first screen “General” will allow for a general description, name, if it is a policy for all licenses or only this sub-license and if the policy is enabled (Unless it’s enabled the policy can not be used within monitoring).

On the second screen the measurement settings can be set. The allowed minimal measurement interval, if the internal sensor is enabled, is 5 minutes and if only the external sensor is utilized the lowest measurement interval that can be utilized is 1 minute.

On the third screen, the alarm rules for the device can be set up. The rules that are there are differentiated between the device’s internal sensors as well as external probes. The internal ones consist of temperature and humidity and the external probes one of temperature. You can set up multiple settings for each of them and also select between single, accumulated or immediate alarms (“single” means a single occurrence needs to meet the time constraint while “accumulated” means there can be multiple instances that violate the value for a shorter amount of time but will trigger the alarm due to them all being added up together exceed the time value, on the other hand immediate alarms will trigger as soon as a violation occurs and don’t require a time delay) but there is some limitation for the single and accumulated alarms that must be met so it is required that the alarm delay is a multiple of at least 2 times of the measurement interval as well as a combination of temperature with type needs to be unique, for example, you can have only one 8 degrees Celsius single alarm but it would be allowed to have an 8 degrees Celsius single alarm as well as an 8 degrees Celsius accumulated one.
Besides that there is also the possibility to set up warnings. A warning will trigger a notification of the alarm recipients but does not require further handling within SmartView and they will not appear within SmartView as an active issue. Warnings primary serve as a mean of notification to the user prior of a breach of the Alarm settings.

On the fourth screen, specific additional event settings as well as device settings can be defined. For an easier overview, the available options can be adjusted based on the device used, but they can contain up to settings such as light, tilt shock, and free-fall monitoring. In addition, it is also possible to set additional features such as start prevention without an external probe connected or settings specific to the communication of the device as well as information available on the device itself for example an acoustic alarm if a violation occurs.

For additional information in regards of the light sensor as an estimate for the light levels the following values could be utilized:
Lux level estimate Interpretation comparison
1 Twilight
5 Minimal street Lighting
10 Sunset
50 Living room
80 Hallway
100 Very dark overcast day
320-500 office lighting
400 sunrise/sunset
1000 Overcast day
10000-25000 Full daylight
32000-130000 Direct sunlight

On the fifth screen, the localization can be set up. This ranges from simple notification on arrival and departure up to stopping the device once it arrived on site.

Once all the required settings are entered the policy can be saved for further use by pressing on the top right of the screen.
