Modify a Sector

You can modify the following settings in a sector:

Associations
Alarm profiles
Milestones

General

General

Description: As the title suggests a description for the sector can be added here

Enable/Disable: With this slider the sector can be disabled once it’s no longer needed and vice versa

Device data/Manual Data: The sector can be moved from Device data to manual data this will allow adding manual data records but will flag the sector as such as the integrity for the data can not be guaranteed anymore since the data can not be verified. This action can not be undone once confirmed and is irreversible.

Offline monitoring: The sector contains 2 variants of offline monitoring. Sector offline monitoring which will trigger if all devices are offline within a sector and Device offline monitoring which will trigger if a single device stopped reporting. Generally speaking, the Alarming delay for the sector offline monitoring could be recommended to be smaller than the device offline monitoring.

Who will be notified? The users defined in the notification recipients will receive an email notification.
When will the notification be sent? Users will receive the email notification within one hour after SmartView has detected that the sector is offline. Another notification will be sent once SmartView detects that the sector is online again.

Associations

Associations

Within this area, the associations can be adjusted. The currently associated devices can be edited by pressing the tribar on the right side of the line (this includes ending or deleting the association) while new devices can be added by clicking on the serial number field on the right side of the page. It’s important to take note that even if an association is deleted, all information will stay present within the audit trail, and excursions that occurred in the sector during the association will stay visible within it.

Before adding an alarm profile to the sector, make sure you have create an alarm profile with appropriate alarm rules.
Adding an alarm profile to a sector can be done in the modify screen of the sector:

Click on the Alarm profiles tab in the modify screen:

Click on the Monitoring Disabled/Enabled button to enable alarm monitoring and select a created alarm profile from the dropdown list:

Parts of the selected profile then can be updated that are related to the notification. So it is possible to add additional recipients, define the means of notification(mail/sms), and define the repetition interval and escalation delay. In this regard, it is important to note the repetition interval will only send reminders via mail as only 1 sms notification can be triggered per excursion
