FORMS OF TRAINING

Examples of appropriate training include: professional continuing education; leadership training; tuition support for higher education, community college, or General Education Diploma (GED) courses; apprenticeship and skilled trades programs; stackable certificates; language training; or other personal development such as financial literacy and management.

HOURS CONVERSION

For organizations providing training and education benefits in the form of paid time, the monetary value of hours provided must be converted using, at minimum, the hourly value of their lowest wage offered.

INTERNAL TRAINING

Externally contracted training provided by the organization for all employees can count towards the allocation threshold by dividing the total training cost by the number of employees.

MECHANISMS OF TRAINING SUPPORT

The support provided can include directly paying tuition and fees, reimbursement for books, travel, lodging, and expenses, and providing paid work-time attendance.

SCOPE OF EMPLOYEES

Indicator metrics apply to all employees (see definition in the General Clarifications). For organizations pursuing Level 2 and above, training and education benefits must be provided on a prorated basis for part-time employees who work at least 20 hours per week.
