The school counselors at International College strive to provide students, their families, and staff/faculty with the following services:
- Counselors remain available for students if they wish to discuss academic, social, and emotional concerns or when they feel the need to seek assistance with a challenge of any sort.
- Counselors listen with empathy to help students work on social development, build healthy relationships and re-examine their values and goals.
- Counselors address crises and provide crisis counseling (death, sickness, traumatic events, natural disasters, etc.)
- Counselors work on whole school well-being protocols (grief, trauma…)
- Counselors collaborate with different stakeholders inside and outside the school to ensure the holistic well-being of the student.
- Counselors create a data-driven systemized method of documenting and reporting.
- Counselors give recommendations to teachers regarding students who struggle emotionally.
- Counselors provide support to faculty/staff.
- Counselors plan a Well-being Week throughout the whole school to raise awareness about mental health.
- Counselors plan ongoing awareness presentations/sessions to students (via advisory), parents, faculty/staff.
- Counselors meet with all new students to ensure good adaptation and integration.
