Homework is designed to consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding and to provide students with an opportunity for guided, structured independent learning outside the classroom in the home environment or library. Homework may take many forms besides written work. Finishing off work begun in class is legitimate, provided it helps to develop independent learning skills in some form.
It is important that students acquire good study habits for the future, and therefore parents are asked to ensure that a suitable time and place is set aside for their child to complete his/her homework. Parents are also requested to monitor their child’s homework and contact the subject teacher for any questions, problems, or concerns.
Students facing difficulty with aspects of their work habits should be encouraged to speak with their subject teacher, adviser, or counselor.
