Level One Disciplinary Infraction Disciplinary Consequences handled by the teacher/Dean of Students
Level one disciplinary infractions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Talking or being disruptive in class (repeated), during presentations or assemblies
  • Inappropriate or foul language use
A level one disciplinary infraction will be dealt with by the teacher and/or the Dean of Students. It will typically result in (but not limited to):
  • A verbal reminder/ a behavior reflection sheet/pledge letter/warning letter/a loss of privilege
  • More severe consequences will be given for each level of infraction depending on circumstances.
  • Counseling is provided upon need.
  • Parents are informed, and incidents are documented.

Restorative Terminologies:
  • Behavior reflection sheet – All should be followed with commitment to their reflection in a Pledge Letter.

  • The circle ensures equality; everyone has the chance to express himself or herself or decide to pass.

2. Lateness to class and Absence After 3 unjustified latenesses or Absences, the student will get detention for one hour on Wednesday afternoon. Students will work on assigned academic tasks. Behavior reflection sheet/ Pledge letter to be completed during recess time/free time at the Floor advisers’ office.
3. Unauthorized cell phone use 1st: The cell phone will be confiscated for the day, and the student has to sign to retrieve it
2nd: The cell phone will be confiscated for two days. The parents come to school to collect the phone.
3rd: Warning Letter. The cell phone will be confiscated for two weeks/up to one month.

4. Violation of dress code 1st time: A Verbal Reminder
2nd time: A letter of Warning.
In all cases, parents will be contacted. Students will be asked to remove the offending article of clothing/return home to change.
The student reads in the Student Handbook about the dress code and discusses it with the Floor adviser. Behavior reflection sheet/ Pledge letter to be completed during recess time/free time at the Floor advisers’ office.
5. Eating/drinking (other than water) in class
Littering
1st time: A Verbal Reminder
2nd time: A letter of Warning
Repeated littering or eating/drinking in class the teacher will inform parents.
Students read in the Student Handbook about littering and eating/drinking in class. Explains to peers in class why this is unacceptable.

6. Expressing political / religious views
Talking about political and/or religious topics
First time: Verbal Warning – Behavior Reflection Sheet
