Version 1.4 contains bug fixes. Show documents are backward and forward compatible with Moving Light Assistant versions 1.2 through 1.4.

GENERAL

  • Application is now a 64 bit application on macOS and Windows OS.
  • Icons and pictures have been re-drawn/updated for HiDPi support.
  • Dark Mode is supported on macOS and Windows OS.
  • On macOS, removed the Setup->Camera (64bit) menu item as camera control is all 64 bit compatible.
  • On macOS 64 bit camera control is no longer handled by a separate helper application.
  • Most spreadsheet view graphics have been rewritten.
  • Reporting engine has been replaced with a new engine. Previous report templates are not compatible with the new engine.
  • Fixed issue where importing images into Moving Light Assistant (i.e. gobos, wheel graphics etc.) would appear as black images.
  • On macOS, when using AV Foundation, you may now be asked by macOS to access the camera. This may take a moment to appear.
  • On macOS, computers with a Touch Bar can use the Touch Bar to trigger scripts.
  • Basic grandMA3 console support. Cue Lists (not cue data), Presets and Patch can be imported.
  • Machines that are no longer registered with the licensing server will not longer run licensed and will switch to Reader/Demo mode.
  • Where the users license serial number is displayed, only the last 8 characters are now displayed.
  • It is now possible to merge Preset Documentation data when importing from another MLA show document.
  • Uses latest Canon drivers 13.16.0. Supported camera can be found here.
  • Added ‘Demo’ mode. In demo mode, it is possible to create a new show to explore the features of MLA. If an existing MLA document is opened, MLA will revert to Reader mode.
    • MLA will only run for an hour in demo before quitting (you can re-launch but will have to start again with any data you created).
    • Saving is disabled.
    • The Rig Data view can only have up to 25 fixtures.
    • Wheel images and reports are watermarked.
    • Report printing and saving as a PDF are disabled.
    • Photo export is disabled.
    • MLA show document import is disabled.
    • Up to 50 photos can be captured using the MLA camera controls.

CONSOLES

ETC EOS

  • Show Control (I.e. timecode) data is imported for the ETC EOS consoles and can be used to make a timecode report in the reporting engine.
  • EOS Import now includes the Cue_Notes field and is imported into the InfoText field. This will show as a the ‘Cue Notes’ column in the Cue List view.

grandMA2

  • Timecode data is imported for the grandMA2 and can be used to make a timecode report in the reporting engine.
  • grandMA2 import will correctly set the last imported show file in production information.
  • Fixed a bug in the grandMA2 Cue Data XML import that in rare cases would cause the tracked dimmer value to be incorrectly calculated when a dimmer parameter only contains as effect value. This would result in a preset not be correctly identified as being used.

grandMA3

  • Added basic grandMA3 support.
  • grandMA3 – Importing XML for Patch, Presets and Cue List (not cue data) supported.
  • grandMA3 – Plugin supplied for importing into the console to export the XML files.
  • grandMA3 – New Preset Auto Photo script to work for grandMA3.
  • grandMA3 – Added grandMA3 as a console in the OSC Setup dialog.

RIG DATA

  • Fixed bug where it was no longer possible to edit a user column if the column had been renamed.

PRESET DOCUMENTATION

  • Photo Zoom window has been replaced with new window with additional functionality. New split screen mode to display a preset and channel photo together.
  • Change to ETC EOS channel selection handling when using Follow Console in the Preset Documentation view to follow more accurately.
  • Added Focussed preset count in the Preset Documentation view.
  • Added options when adding presets/channels to ignore ETC EOS multi cell channel numbers.
  • Fixture view – Fixed crash if you clicked on the channel up and down arrows while editing the note cell.
  • Fixed crash if List Only Used was checked when adding presets and there is no cue data in the show document.
  • Fixed issue where channels used in effects were not considered used when adding only used channels on the grandMA2.
  • Optional use of highest or lowest cue in channels when setting a presets focus cue.
  • Brightness and Contrast controls in the Photo Edit dialog now work again on macOS (early beta issue).
  • Setting a Lowest On Intensity in the Preferences is now used when setting the First Used Cue in the Preset Documentation view.
  • Fixture view now displays how many presets are listed for the current channel.

CUE LIST

  • Fixed issue where Focus, Colour and Beam delay times were not displayed.
  • Fixed bug where cue photos had incorrect annotations in pictures 3 & 4.
  • Fixed cue photo zoom where images with adjustments (contrast, brightness etc) were not displayed correctly.

CONSOLE DATA

Preset Data

  • Fixed issue where channels only used in an effect on the grandMA2 were not considered as used.
  • Fixed issue where a channels usage in effects were not displayed on grandMA2.
  • Fixed bug that would in some cases list a cue in the selected preset cues incorrectly.

REPORTS

  • New report template editor.
  • Added report templates for MA1/MA2/EOS Cue list reports.
  • Added report templates for Rig Data reports.
  • Added report templates for grandMA2 and EOS timecode list reports.
  • Added previous ROH reports from MLA v1.3.2 as code based reports.
  • Added report template for Position reports.
  • Added report template for Wheel reports.
  • Report preparation is now threaded to stop spinning ball while the report is initially prepared. For reports with a large number of photos (or large photos) this can take some time.
  • Added Channel Usage report type. Note that data is taken from the Console Data->Channel Usage view.
  • Updated the Preset Documentation code report.

OSC

  • Fixed issue in OSC Setup dialog where port was not always set correctly when set to TCP 1.1 and ETC EOS Family consoles.
  • Added support for additional MLA OSC user interface commands to control the user interface in the Cue List view. This allows cues to be triggered using OSC commands. See this topic.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Changed email activation email address to support@movinglightassistant.com.
  • Fixed Crash in Manage Positions dialog if you clicked in an empty part of the Additional Trims list.
  • Fixed issue where some list views would not draw the last column correctly.
  • Scripts with a .lua extension should be recognised by MLA.
  • Implemented improved handling for window positions where a second monitor was previously used and is no longer.
  • Improved handling in scripts to avoid comments being deleted when setting the Trigger mode through the Manage Scripts dialog.
  • Fix for importing ColourDelay on CSV import.
  • Fixed multiple row selection using the up and down keys in combination with the shift key in most list views.
  • Changes to modal dialog handling to stop opening a modal dialog while in another modal dialog. Most common dialogs have been fixed, though some might remain.

Known Issues

  • Launch window will show odd Recent show name and will not open when ‘Load Recent’ button is clicked if the last file was opened in MLA v1.3.2. Just open the show through the ‘Load Show’ button. The same is true in MLA v1.3.2 if the file was last opened in MLA v1.4.
  • In spreadsheet views, there are left over artefacts under the scroll bars.
  • Some buttons do not obey Dark mode. These are buttons that toggle or have icons in them. On Windows OS, some panel controls do not obey Dark Mode.
  • On macOS Catalina, the Customize Touch Bar menu appears in the Application menu.

Script Changes

  • MA2 Preset Auto Photo – made a change to fix delay in selecting all the channels.

Script Additions

  • MA2 Preset Auto Photo (Fixtures) – Same as MA2 Preset Auto Photo but uses Fixture numbers instead of Channel numbers. There is a variable useFixtureNum which can be set to false to use Channel numbers instead.
  • MA2 Goto Preset Cue – Will tell the console to go to the Focus Cue for the currently selected preset in the Preset Documentation view.
  • MA2 Select Preset Channels – Will select on the console all the channels in the currently selected preset in the Preset Documentation view.
