YetiPoint is an educational game to learn and practice counting from 1 to 10. The game was developed in corporation with special education professionals from Finland and designed for helping to find an engaging game that also suits the students’ curriculum. It is utilizing the touchpoints of the device to answer the number in question. A number or an amount of apples will be displayed on the screen and by using the corresponding fingers to touch the screen, the players can succeed to get to the next level. Visual and audio stimuli keep the players engaged throughout the game.

Settings

The settings can be adjusted from the menu screen, before starting each game. The settings icons are located in the bottom left corner. Darker colored buttons show your current selection. If the icons are more see-through they have not been selected.

Difficulty

You can choose between two different difficulty settings. Switch between them by tapping on the green “EASY” and the red “HARD” button. For the easy difficulty level, the required touchpoints are limited to 5, and for the hard difficulty, they are limited to 10 touchpoints.

Touchpoint counter

If the blue “SHOW COUNTER” button above is bright blue you have selected a game mode that counts how many touchpoints are used. That means that if you touch the screen with five (5) fingers at the same time, the counter on the left top corner will display the number five (5) during the game.

Game modes

You can choose between the following four game modes:

  • Numbers
  • Amounts
  • Addition +
  • Subtraction -

Taping on one of those four game modes will start the game.

“Numbers” will show one number somewhere on the screen.

“Amounts” will display apples around the screen which need to be counted.

“Addition” and “Subtraction” will require basic calculation with numbers one (1) to five (5) for the easy mode and one (1) to ten (10) for the more difficult mode.

How to play?

The basic idea for this game is that the touchpoints of the screen are being used for counting with your fingers. Each finger that touches the screen and stays for a designated duration will be included in the count. The touchpoint counter in the top left corner of the screen can assist with displaying the number of recognized fingers.

Depending on the chosen game mode the game will display either a number, a selection of apples or an easy calculation within the range of one (1) to five (5) or within the range of one (1) to ten (10). Once the correct answer is identified the player should touch the screen with the corresponding amount of fingers and keep them on the screen till the number, objects or calculation in question starts to jiggle and eventually disappears in a rain of stars.
