Some layers support advanced queries, which allow for filtering or searching layer features based on particular attributes and/or area. This functionality is not available for Remote Layers. There are two ways of conducting an advanced query: through the layer filter menu or through the attribute table.

Option 1: Layer Filter Menu

  • In the map tool, select the desired layer in the layer menu so that it is highlighted in blue (shown at “A”).
  • When the layer is selected, the layer toolbar will appear at the top of the layer menu. Click on the Filter layer tool at “B”.
  • Enter your desired filter specifications. In this example, layer features are filtered by Grizzly Bear population density greater than 30 (shown at “C”).
  • Options are available to create complex filtering by group (shown at “D) .
  • You can also add a filter by area of interest (shown at “E). The example is using a circle drawn on the map to filter features intersecting with the area.
  • The layer filters allows for filtering of different layers if you have more than one (shown at “F”).
  • Click on the Apply filter button at “G” to shown the results of the conditional filtering.
  • To save your filter selection on the map, click on the Save button at “H”
  • To reset the filter, click on the Reset button at “I”

Option 2: Attribute Table Filter

  • In the map tool, select the desired layer in the layer menu so that it is highlighted in blue (shown at “A”).
  • When the layer is selected, the layer toolbar will appear at the top of the layer menu. Click on the Open attribute table tool at “B”.
  • Select the Sync map with filter option at “C” to show results of filter in real time.
  • Enter your desired condition in the text bar over chosen attribute. In this example, layer features are filtered by Grizzly Bear population density greater than 30 (shown at “D”).
